Promising to leverage the BitTorrent organization’s skill with P2P protocols and the uTorrent crew’s with client design, Bram Cohen and Ludvig Strigeus announced that they will be working together. It’s unclear whether this is just a friendly gesture or if any of BitTorrent’s $20 million in funding is involved. The response on the uTorrent community forum where we found the announcement was mixed.

While this means that BitTorrent’s client software should markedly improve, but this means that uTorrent users will likely have to play by the rules set forth in the agreements between BitTorrent and their content partners. Personally, we’re sticking with open-source, cross-platform Azureus.
