Gotuit tags video search
There was so much coverage of the Gotuit SceneMaker release announcement, a tool to clip and tag online video, that I had to step back and take it all in. While at first it comes off as a cool tool, especially for the team here at NewTeeVee, what’s more important is how it could potentially transform the entire video search space.
Besides now being able to search Gotuit’s own library of licensed content (like videos from EMI artists), by allowing users to add metadata to clips on YouTube and MetaCafe, Gotuit has a chance at becoming a niche search destination — similar to the relationship between Technorati and blog search. Google may now own YouTube, but that doesn’t mean they own video search.

I have found that this new scene maker is an unbelievable tool, for my own site and for sharing really interesting topics inside of longer stories… that i dont want to watch. Its great to be able to go directly to the point of video i want within seconds. And I enjoy using the professional content as well as YouTube and metacafe for my own blog. What a concept. Spread the Word!
I think Google will have issues with another company using Google/YouTube’s bandwidth to power a different search engine.
They don’t just index the site, they wrap the video stream from YouTube/Metacafe up in their player, kinda taking credit where credit isn’t due.
YouTube/Metacafe still provide the bandwidth and storage for GoTuit’s benefit. This can’t last.
