Top time-shifted television programs of 2006
Lost Remote mentions a new category in Nielsen’s year-end statistics: top 10 time-shifted prime-time television shows. It’s dominated by NBC and CW, with a more-than-healthy dose of chick TV. And no American Idol, of course, by far the winner in primetime TV. Lost Remote writer Cory Bergman also notes the absence of “The Office,” which has been cited for its time-shifted and iTunes appeal.
The ranking technique was based on the percentage boost time-shifting added to the regular ratings for each show.

I time shift about 90% of my regular viewing. Fast-forwarding is an added bonus (you can watch an NFL game in 2 hours by FF through commercials and times when nothing is happening on the field), but the main issue is having control of my schedule. VOD is a great concept, but the programming isn’t there yet, especially in HD. HD DVR, you are my best friend.
