YouTube Forced to Remove Oscar Clips
Despite not offering equivalents on its own site, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has gotten YouTube to take down all its clips of the Oscars, reports Variety.
Ric Robertson, exec administrator for the Academy, said the organization had its content pulled “to help manage the value of our telecast and our brand.”
Prior to the takedowns, clips from the Oscars had been among the most-viewed material on YouTube; a musical number by Will Ferrell, Jack Black, and John C. Reilly lamenting about comedies never winning Oscars, had been viewed more than 250,000 times. Good thing we didn’t embed that here.

Isn’t it to the point where doing things like this are a negligent way to lead an organization. He is hurting the Oscar brand more than helping it.

Some people have written in to say the Oscar clips are back on YouTube, but it looks to me like these are not the same clips that were removed. Let us know if you see something different.
