Disney to Hook up with Joost?
A Disney exec speaking at a conference today spilled the beans that his company is impressed with Joost. Kevin Mayer, Disney’s EVP of corporate strategy, business development, and technology group, said in general he was skeptical about bringing the TV experience to the PC, but specifically he was interested in the promise of Joost, reports Digital Media Wire.
[Mayer] did say…that the company is analyzing a potential relationship with internet TV provider Joost, which recently came to terms with Viacom on a content deal as well. He cited Joost’s “high quality format” and “excellent management team” as two reasons Disney might be interested in a deal.
Viacom, suer of YouTube, has already agreed to distribute its content through Joost. Yesterday niche broadband television publisher Diversion Media, which is led by former Viacom execs, also jumped on board.
For Joost to bring on Disney would be another huge coup, obviously. But as tipster Matt says, “it would be an interesting move especially with Disney’s relationship with Apple.”

Nothing against Apple, but who cares about Disney’s relationship with the company? This is all about distribution.
Well, Disney kick-started selling movies on iTunes.
Four words: Live ESPN on AppleTV.
That’s what this is about, folks. If Disney and Joost hook up, Steve Jobs will find a way to work Joost into AppleTV, thus giving sports fans a reason to dump cable and buy it. Just watch…
