Channel Surfing: TV Geekery Roundup
Earlier this year, I made some predictions based on new technologies that could change the face of video. One of them has already come true to a degree — while it’s not multitouch, this touch-screen interface for live multimedia editing can only be described at “totally bitchin’.” [Gizmodo]
While this is NewTeeVee, not OldTeeVee, I couldn’t help but post this picture of a “TV Watch” from Seiko released in 1982. Wired put together a slideshow of photos from TVHistory.tv of televisions throughout the ages. Reminds me that it’s been a while since I paid my respects to Philo T. Farnsworth at the lab where he started it all, which is just a few blocks away from my apartment in San Francisco. [Wired]
Now that I’ve dispensed with the past and the future of television, here’s something for the present. It’s yet another online video converter, VidDownloader. Simply drop a link to a video on YouTube, Break, Dailymotion, MySpace or even Pornotube, click “download,” and VidDownloader will convert the FLV source file to a DivX AVI for your offline or portable viewing pleasure. Save your favorite clips before they get disappeared! [VidDownloader]
