Cannes We Do That?
The annual Festival de Cannes on the French Riviera is probably second only to the Academy Awards in terms of sheer glamour for the motion picture industry. But even selling my kidney on the black market wouldn’t necessarily garner enough money to cover a trip in the proper style — I’m counting on Robert Evans get really desperate for a transplant and be willing to trade in some favors. Call me, Bob!
Of course, there will be plenty of coverage from the likes of Access Hollywood, Entertainment Tonight and the E! Network on this side of the Atlantic. But just like every other event these days, hordes with video cameras have descended on the seaside resort town and uploading reports — like LOVEFiLM who are posting daily updates to their Blip.tv account. Here’s the latest.
For clips from major news services, easily searchable and embeddable, check out The NewsRoom’s listings. Here, Agence France Presse reports on the ‘bloggers beach’ at Cannes, illustrating that seducing new media with access and free booze isn’t just for tech conferences anymore.
MeFeedia is also tracking updates from the festival, with most of the listings from YouTube videos tagged “cannes” like this performance by U2. A quick scan shows video reports in French, English, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese. In the latest installment of the Rocket Pictures podcast, they’re having trouble getting their promotional banner flying from their yacht. Oh, to have such problems.
