‘Burg Producers Score Second Series
The announcement of The All-For-Nots, a new mockumentary-style series focused on the antics of indie rockers as they traipse across the country on tour follows rumors we’d heard that Kathleen Grace and Thom Woodley of The ‘Burg had signed a deal with Michael Eisner’s Vuguru to produce a new series.
Well, the rumors are true. The show is currently in pre-production, and joins fellow Vuguru series Prom Queen, which has been signed for a second seasion, Prom Queen: Summer Heat.
Each of the 24 planned 7- to 20-minute episodes will center around a stop on the tour. “Anyone who’s even thought about joining a band or going on a road trip will be into this,” Woodley is quoted in the press release which we received via email tonight. He and Grace will produce the series under the auspices of their newly minted Dinosaur Diorama Productions.
Their earlier series, The ‘Burg, has grown from the first season where it was pretty much shot on spec, to a deal with VideoEgg that’s garnering millions of views for their latest series of shorts. No details yet regarding revenue models, such as the Motorola product placements in the latest ‘Burg shorts or in Vuguru’s Prom Queen.
Woodley and Grace are veterans of the media business, Woodley as a writer and musician and Grace as a producer, and the risk they took producing an online sitcom seems to have been well rewarded. For its part, Vuguru has shown a keen eye for online talent and a similar willingness to take a chance.
