SageTV to introduce New Media Center for Mac
SageTV, an Inglewood, CA-based software company, is introducing an updated version (6.2) of its SageTV Media Center for Mac sometime today. The software turns Mac computers into a personal video recorder, and allows easy sharing of music and photos. SageTV till recently had been available only for Windows and Linux-based computers.
The Media Center for Mac software has built-in place shifting features, that allow you to watch your television anywhere away from home, when used with special viewer for Mac laptops. These features were first announced by the company back in December of 2006.
The new software allows Mac users to convert TV recordings to iPod (video), AppleTV and RAZR format. The company also offers a wireless extender, that allows you to connect more than one television set to your computer. The software also enables watching YouTube and Google Video on the big screen television. It has multiple tuner support. When installed on a Mac Mini, it may prove to be a worthy competitor to AppleTV, and other competitors such as Elgato.

Do you think they intentionally don’t support Elgato hardware or is there some technical reason why it’s not possible. I’d think with support they would have a chance to convert people with only the price of software as an “upgrade.”

My guess is because they don’t want to – elgato is a competitors of theirs so perhaps their reticence is justified . I agree with your upgrade idea though!
