Video Showdown: Daft Music Videos!

That Parisian electronica Centurion duo Daft Punk has had a few video gems circulate recently. You decide which mashup really is “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger.” But before you get carried away, don’t forget Daft Punk danced with Juliette Lewis in a Gap commercial. Hipsters, cringe.

“Stronger” – Kanye West with Daft Punk

Self-deification has never looked so Akira, directed by music video hit-maker Hype Williams. Casting himself as Tetsuo of Katsuhiro Ôtomo’s 1988 anime classic, Kanye bemoans the super producer life over Daft Punk’s sampling of its 2001 single off its sophomore Discovery, which itself samples from Edwin Birdsong.

Daft Hands – Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger

“Idle hands are the devil’s tools,” or so the saying goes. I’m glad to see some kids are using their summer vacation to catch up on sweet YouTube videos. Creator “Fr. Eckle” clarifies that it was one continuous take and warns about “the moment near the end where I fall over and kill my toes.”
