Courts: Comcast HD better than DirecTV
An Illinois court, as part of the tussle between Comcast (CMCSA) and DirecTV (DTV) over whose HD is better, has ruled in favor of Comcast, saying that satellite broadcaster DirecTV used false advertising. The courts also ruled against DirecTV’s motions for injunctions against its rival. Comcast, obviously pleased by the results, issued the following statement:
“We’re pleased that the Court has issued an injunction ordering DirecTV, its affiliates and resellers, to immediately stop airing the false and misleading ads claiming superior picture quality over cable. The Court’s order confirms, once again, that DirecTV’s claims are unsubstantiated and based on flawed and unreliable studies. Comcast has a better HD picture than satellite, which has been backed by an independent study that shows even satellite customers preferred our HD picture quality, and we offer 11 times more HD choices, with nearly 200 programs at any given time. That’s what matters most to consumers.”
How long before we see another round of lawsuits?
