Friday Vid Picks: Burning Man
As droves of people descend upon the Black Rock Desert in Nevada for the 2007 Burning Man Project, life in San Francisco is a little quieter, a little lonelier, a little more, dare I say, normal. Sigh. I’m still hoping that NewTeeVee can make room in its budget for a Burning Man field reporter, but…maybe next year. In the meantime, enjoy some vicarious radical self-expression from the most wired Burning Man to date. More info. can be found at Laughing Squid.
This is Current TV’s second burning; they’ve a set up a great micro-site on which tons of clips are being uploaded each day from Black Rock City.
Dance Dance Immolation – Burning Man 2006
For you DDR fanatics out there, watch your step.
Oh Google Earth, is there anything you can’t do? And make sure you check out their Burning Man Earth project.
Beyond Burning Man – Season 1 – Episode 1: The Beginning
This collision of the Gothic industrialists and San Franciscan hippies seems to be a perfect update of the Hell’s Angels hanging out with Ken Kesey and his Merry Pranksters back in the “Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test” days.
Pure Imagination – Willy Wonka at Burning Man
Mark Day has a number of other Burning Man videos as well, but this one, with its eerie song and teleporting editing, evokes much of the spirit of Burning Man.
