Open Thread: Where Will You Watch NBC?
Apple and NBC are making competing immature proclamations — “no, I broke up with you!” — to let the world know that the network’s shows will no longer be for sale in iTunes. Silicon Alley Insider estimates the broken deal was worth about $20 million to Apple and $50 million to NBC annually. That’s pretty small by both companies’ standards, but it seems absurd to just stamp out a venue where increasing numbers of people prefer to get their Heroes or The Office fix.
So where do you plan to get your NBC? From the network’s site? From BitTorrent? The new Hulu.com and its affiliates? Your DVR? Appointment TV? Or maybe you’re sick of it all and think you have better things to do with your life. Let us know in the comments.

I am planning on dropping NBC all together. If they are not on iTunes, I ain’t watching. Its not worth the effort.
Yes, thats what I was waiting for — for Om to show he truly is a ridiculous fanboy of Apple as well as Google. Twist the story for these two companies as you seem ready to smell even their farts! Loathsome!
I will definitely not be paying for content, ill watch commercials though. I get some good HD tv from the free digital broadcasts.
If they do host it on their site and the video plays ok I will watch it their. If not, i dont really care, there is enough content out there for me not to miss it.
I don’t watch NBC. I watch TiVo and on my TiVo I watch Heros, the Office and Law and Order. They just happen to be on NBC.
I don’t know if I can be like Om and give up NBC all together. Heroes is just too good of a tv show.
I’d probably settle for Hulu or the network’s Web site. Not having an offline option for watching the show is really a big deal though.

There are too many great new Web Shows coming out to watch network TV. I’m subscribed to about 70 Web Shows – some of which i rarely watch and some which I always watch. There are always a few GEMS every day that make me laugh out loud or want to give someone a hug. Network TV just doesn’t do this for me anymore. Neither does YouTube.

HULU or one of its distributors or Bittorrent if they restrict the hell out of it and put all sorts of silly DRM controls in place .
My DVR is where all my content sits unless it’s live sports so that’s where I will continue to get my broadcast tv fix – I need a regular sized screen for my shows.
Amazon Unbox has most of this content, minus BG which I’m sure they’ll get now. So I’m not too worried about.
I tried watching Heroes on NBC.com but those ads annoyed me. I ended up downloading it from Amazon Unbox – it was cheaper than iTunes and in much better quality.
Yep, network TV is on my Tivo. Can’t wait to see how many animated lower thirds I have to bare while watching Heros this fall…
Again, the big boys duke it out and keep harming their customers.
This just brings more opportunities for independent producers.
I’ll download from Usenet, and then seed the shows on several BitTorrent trackers, both public and private. :)
To be honest, this is what I would have done anyway.
OTA on the TV. If at all.
I generally watch NBC shows on my TIVO but where iTunes comes in handy for me are for the shows that I don’t bother to record and later find out from someone that some new show is really cool and I should watch it – I will then go to iTunes and purchase the shows I have missed. I think this may just be a negotiating tactic and NBC and Apple will work it out before the end of December.
I’ll watch the episodes the same way I always watch them: The Pirate Bay.
