Thursday Vid Picks: Luciano Pavarotti

Luciano Pavarotti, Italian opera superstar and humanitarian, died of pancreatic cancer earlier today at his home in Modena, Italy. He was 71. The tenor brought his voice and charisma to the global stage through his work with The Three Tenors and his charity concerts.

Below are some gems the “King of the High Cs” left behind in the media cloud, including a number of clips from the Pavarotti and Friends charity concerts. As of the writing of this post, Pavarotti occupied seven of the thirty slots on Technorati’s top videos.

Luciano Pavarotti - Ave Maria - Schubert

One of Franz Schubert’s most popular works, Ellens dritter Gesang (”Ellen’s Third Song”) is often mistakenly referred to as Ave Marie.

James Brown & Pavarotti

I imagine that the King of the High Cs and the Hardest Working Man in Show Business are now working together on raunchy libretti in the afterlife.

The Three Tenors - Nessum Dorma

After first performing together on the eve of the 1990 FIFA World Cup final, The Three Tenors would go on to sing for audiences around the world, spawning an entirely new generation of opera fans.

Pavarotti & Barry White

Never have two such swoon-worthy titans made ladies melt more than Mr. Pavarotti and Mr. White in this duet.

Pavarotti & Bono

Bonae voces.
