Wanna Be A Zombie?
With Resident Evil: Extinction topping the box office this past weekend, zombies proved their, uhhh, undying appeal to movie-going audiences. If you’ve ever watched a zombie flick and thought to yourself, “Hey, I can shamble with my arms outstretched better than that!” Now is your chance to prove it by submitting your zombie self to Day of the Living Dying, a new online series coming out on Veoh.
Nashville-based MindSplinters Films is producing the new online series (the title is the opposite of the classic Night of the Living Dead) and is including just about anyone who submits a video of themselves looking and acting all living corpse-y.
Living Dying is tentatively slotted to debut on Veoh on Oct. 16. The production is financed by MindSplinters, and will earn money through a revenue share deal with Veoh. The initial run will consist of eight, five-minute weekly episodes, but that could be extended if it catches on.
The plot, which never really matters in a zombie movie, is about global warming releasing a bacteria that infects everyone and the five brave souls on the run trying to survive. Thankfully, the movie doesn’t take itself too seriously, mixing horror, action and a splattering of comedy to lighten the mood.
Dennis Baker, a producer on the series, said that including the general public in the casting call was a pretty easy decision. “Zombies don’t require much skill,” he noted. And they are looking for as many people as possible to submit videos so they can get into the Guinness Book of World Records for most zombie extras in a production (how they determine that, even Baker is unsure of).
And you can get them one step closer to their undying wish.
