YuMe Raises $9 Million More
Video advertising startup YuMe has raised $9 million from previous funders Khosla Ventures, Accel Partners, and BV Capital, along with new investor DAG Ventures. This brings the company’s total funding to more than $16 million.
Redwood City, Calif.-based YuMe, which recently dropped the “Networks” from its name, has been lauded for its capability to serve ads on a variety of situations, including streamed online, viewed as a download on a PC, and taken portably on a device. The company uses contextual targeting to match advertisements with content. Customers include MSN Video, BitTorrent, Azureus, and Pando.
The list of video ad startups is long; other notable players include ScanScout, Adap.tv, VideoEgg, Kiptronic, Podaddies, and VideoEgg. Many of them will be speaking at NewTeeVee Live, including YuMe CEO Jayant Kadambi. This is a well-funded space, though most of the companies are in the early stages of their initial deployments. While fundraising ability doesn’t necessarily correlate with anything else, VideoEgg has the most total capital that we know of, with more than $32 million.
