Boston Pops Goes Online
The music of the Boston Pops is only vaguely familiar to me, something my parents would have on in the background when we lived in Rhode Island. Which is precisely why the venerable music institution is trying to reach younger audiences by putting its concerts online at BostonPops.tv
|
The online orchestration video is powered by PermissionTV. It will be free of charge, will feature behind-the-scenes footage and interviews and eventually may even provide master classes.
While I applaud the fine arts for jumping into the online video game, it’s hard to imagine today’s angst-ridden teens rushing to watch a performance of the theme for Out of Africa. Oh well, maybe it’s something their parents can have on in the background.

Thanks for sharing this. The Boston Pops got me interested in Classical music and I’m glad they are taking the show online now. Classical music can speak to a listener in way that many mediums can’t even approach.
