WGA Negotiators Call for a Strike
UPDATE: The WGA councils have accepted the strike recommendation. Writers could form picket lines on Monday if an agreement can’t be reached over the weekend.
The Writer’s Guild of America (WGA) is expected to go on strike as early as Monday after negotiators unanimously recommended the walk-out to the WGA leadership in a meeting held Thursday night.
While the final timing for the strike was being hammered out by the WGA East and WGA West boards and councils today, there is still hope that an agreement between the guild and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers could be reached over the weekend.
Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has even offered his services to help reach a settlement.
Variety and The Hollywood Reporter are following the story closely, and the LA Times has an excellent roundup of which TV shows are affected and how. You can also check in with WGA’s site for updates from the guild.
