AmeriTV Hoax Revealed?
Silicon Alley Insider thinks it may have figured out the story behind the bogus AmeriTV announcement about securing $45 million in funding.
Some smart cats thought something was fishy about the announcement since it was awfully similar to an earlier release from Joost. Silicon Alley did some digging and noticed there were two other companies using the same announcement.
The bogus press releases were all sent out via a service called PR Leap and all cited Fist Mutual Credit (a real bank) as an investor. No one’s sure what the scammers hoped to gain from the hoax — but who doesn’t love a good mystery?
