Galacticast Duo Breaks Up; Show to Go On?
Galacticast, a project that epitomizes the can-do spirit and creativity of episodic web video shows, is going through a break-up. Co-creators Casey McKinnon and Rudy Jahchan, who until very recently were a long-term couple, have split up. However, Jahchan assures us the elaborate sci-fi spoof show will go on. He also promised that a new installment — one that looks to send up Superman nemesis General Zod — is on its way.
Future editions of the show will feature less of Casey McKinnon, co-executive producer and versatile performer, as she’s striking out in search of new projects. “While we feel we need to separate some of our work from our relationship, we both support each other in our endeavors,” McKinnon wrote in an email.
The Montreal-based duo had also developed a second web video series, a comic book review show called A Comicbook Orange, for Next New Networks. However, development for that show was on a scheduled break after two ten-episode seasons (the last video came out over a month ago), according to Tim Shey, NNN co-founder and head of network development. “It’s an open-ended thing,” Shey told NewTeeVee. “They’re in the family, and we really love to work with them.”
