I would buy a mac mini with a tv tuner / cable card any time apple is ready to ship one ( which is probably never). SDV has killed it. Cable card is designed around cable TV, FIOS is not cable TV. Cable card assumes that all of the channels are available on the cable. FIOS will have 150 HD channels and about 400 SD ones by the end of next year. It doesn't all fix onto a coax. That's why SDV is going to rule. I bought a Gateway laptop about a year ago and have been wondering what the card slot was good for. I've checked out some of the offerings that the store had on hand. One or two were sort of interesting , but not worth the cost , and so it's been empty. This tuner card technology would be cool , if it were availible , as pointed out , eveywhere.
