Funny Tech Bubble Video Taken Down

A video parodying the current attitude in Silicon Valley called Here Comes Another Bubble made the rounds this week, racking up more than 650,000 views on YouTube. We featured the video, made by local a cappella group the Richter Scales, in our “What We’re Watching” section, only to have it endlessly forwarded and IMed to us from friends from all corners of the tech industry. It garnered enough links from blogs to make the top of both Viral Video Chart and Technorati. It’s safe to say the Richter Scales struck a chord.

But all the linking and forwarding will now have to stop prematurely, as YouTube has removed the clip and replaced it with the message: “This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by a third party.” The fast-paced video, which was set to the tune of Billy Joel’s We Didn’t Start the Fire, borrowed tens of pictures, so it’s hard to guess which third party made the music die.

Kara Swisher interviewed Tom Shields of the Richter Scales today about the takedown and posted on it at BoomTown.
