Mogulus Raises $1.5 Million

Live video startup Mogulus has closed $1.5 million in funding from undisclosed angel investors, CEO Max Haot told us this morning. Including the $1.2 million in angel funding we reported on last May, the New York City-based company has now raised $2.7 million in total funding, all pre-Series A.

Haot said Mogulus now has 25,000 producers, up from 18,000 when it launched at our NewTeeVee Live conference in November (disclosure: it was a sponsor and the sole live-broadcasting partner at our show).

The company plans to launch paid versions of its live video broadcasting tools this quarter, including premium features like H.264, video on demand (something we definitely could have used at NTV Live!), different aspect ratios, the capability to include individual clips, and more, said Haot.

Haot said Mogulus hopes to raise a round of venture funding by the end of the year. It should probably do that, considering the swarm of competition in the live video space is all out bringing in cash reserves. See our coverage of investment in Ustream, Kyte, and Justin.tv.

Note: We previously said paidContent got the funding amount wrong, but it was actually us being dumb. Our bad.
