France Telecom’s Viaccess Makes IPTV Move, Buys Orca
France Telecom subsidiary Viaccess has agreed to buy IPTV company Orca Interactive Ltd. for $21.4 million. Our take: This is France Telecom’s play to fend off rival Free.fr, which is going gangbusters over in France. There’s a lot of consolidation in the IPTV middleware market; everyone’s competing with Microsoft, the big kahuna in this space.
