Jivox Raises $2.7M to Create Video Ads

Jivox, a new company that helps small businesses make and distribute web video ads on the cheap, is launching with $2.7 million in seed funding led by Opus Capital.

The San Mateo, Calif.-based company doesn’t even charge users to combine its stock images, videos, and music with their own materials into a video ad. Then Jivox targets and distributes that ad across its network based on the user’s preferences, charging $10 to $40 CPMs, with no minimum budget. Jivox’s ads are, by design, quite basic; see a gallery here.

It’s kind of like Spot Runner for the web, or TurnHere done on the cheap. That’s a pretty good niche, but providing simple tools is always harder than you think. It’s also unclear to me if Jivox users own their creations and can use them on other ad networks, or if they are exclusive to Jivox.
