Enjoy Super High Times in Your House
For those of you too stoned to head to the multiplex, Screen Media is here to help. You can register to receive a copy of the new pot documentary (pot-umentary?) Super High Me on DVD for your own private screenings on the same day the film is released theatrically.
(Insert uncontrollable giggling and a half-eaten box of cereal here.)
The Hollywood Reporter has the money quote:
“It can be difficult to get stoners off the couch,” said Suzanne Blech, senior vp of sales and acquisitions, Screen Media Films. “The number of people who get stoned in America is quite a large percentage, and all we want for them is to tell their friends that they have to see this funny, funny movie.”
To fight piracy, Screen Media may make the DVDs expire after 24 hours, though a bunch of stoners losing the DVD seems more likely than them mustering the entrepreneurial spirit to take up piracy. And though I applaud Screen Media for coming up with novel form of film distribution — haven’t they heard of On Demand?
