SXSW on Video: Meet The All-for-Nots

The All-for-Nots, the new series made by the creators of The ‘Burg and funded by Michael Eisner’s Vuguru, launches tonight at SXSW in Texas. It’s a story about a made-up band playing shows around the country, with original songs and actual instruments. The show costs $1,000 per minute and is shot in HD, but it’s meant to look like a documentary, and extends its reality with character blogs on Bebo.

Check out the premiere here:

Last night I caught up with the creators and cast of the show at a bar in Austin. I know, I know, I need to get a microphone and a light and a camera person and all that fancy junk, but I thought you’d enjoy these raw interviews.

First, the cast introduces themselves and talks a bit about the show:

And here’s a little more detail with co-creator Thom Woodley:

  1. If I ever wore a hat, I’d take it off. I’ve been lucky to work with the creators before, and I know they really put a ton of work into making this show. And Murphy’s Law is likely to rear its ugly head more often while making an Internet show than most other projects. The making of this could probably be a show of its own.

All-for-Nots is genuinely funny, the layout on Bebo looks great, the actors do a great job, and they even wrote their own music - which I hope is supposed to kind of suck, because it does :)

Thom, Kathleen & cast - great job.

  2. Is the entire show supposed to be anamorphic like that?
