Veodia Now Supports Flash
Video broadcasting service Veodia (which broadcast one of our pier screenings last year) will now enable native MPEG-4/H.264 content playback through the Flash 9 Player. The new offering allows Veodia users to record high-quality video and have it automatically transcoded into Flash and embedded in a widget. Until now, Veodia’s content playback was through QuickTime, which has a more limited installed base than the widely-used Flash player. The new feature is only for playback, and does not currently allow the live broadcast in Flash.
Though individuals can use the service, Veodia is targeted at the enterprise level. In addition to obvious uses for corporate video like sales training or product descriptions, Veodia CEO Guillaume Cohen also shared that a hospital is using the service to record and archive surgeries. Not only is this used in risk management (malpractice suit, anyone?), but it’s also actually a keepsake patients can take home. Ewww.
Veodia isn’t the only live video broadcasting platform to support H.264 playback, NowLive, which adjusted its focus earlier this year to focus on traditional media companies, also supports the standard.
