(That may have something to do with the fact that we won Best New Uploader.) What I really appreciate is the celebration of the indy web producer at this moment when corporate behemoths and major studios are spinning off web production units as fast as they can print press releases. Corporate dominance of the web video is inevitable, but the greatest promise of “New” TV, (for me anyway, and I staked my life savings on it) has always been the possibility that a few individuals could use the platform to create a new kind of show, find an audience, and maybe even build a small business.</p> <p>Yahoo’s web video awards were evidence of the promise of independent and genuinely new TV.
