NAB Roundup Day 1
The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) is holding its big trade show in Vegas this week, and I’m not sure there’s enough caffeine to help me keep up on all the news — but here’s a round-up, so far, from day one:

NAB president David Rehr kicked off his keynote with clips from YouTube, a far cry from last year, when the Internet was little more than a footnote. Lost Remote live blogged the speech.
Hulu CEO Jason Kilar will be delivering a keynote address on Wednesday, but he gave a preview of his TV 2.0-themed “Video When, Where and How You Want It” speech to TV Technology.com. And Signiant announced that its software is being used by Hulu to manage automated uploads from content providers.
Microsoft added more support for its Silverlight technology, announcing partnerships with Madison Square Garden Interactive, Tencent, Abertis Telecom, Terra Networks Operations, SBSi, MNet and Yahoo Japan.
The Redmond giant also unveiled details of the Silverlight DRM, powered by PlayReady, which will support live streaming, on-demand streaming and progressive downloads. And because one content protection service isn’t enough these days, Microsoft has also selected Widevine’s cross platform security technology.
MOJO HD is launching The Circuit, an online-only TV show devoted to tech and gadget news.
KidsCo, a joint venture between NBCU, DIC Entertainment and Corus Entertainment is launching a VOD service in South Korea through IPTV company hanaTV. The deal will deliver programming including Babar, Madeline, and Sonic the Hedgehog.
Akamai is opening its transcoding options through partnerships with Multicast Media Technologies, Origin Digital and Telestream.
Multicast Media had its own news by announcing its live-streaming solution using Adobe’s Flash Media Encoder.
There are bound to be many more announcements coming out of the show — check back with us throughout the week for updates.
