Magic Formula: Money, Sex & Online Video
One of my least-favorite journalistic cliches is saying two things go together “like peanut butter and chocolate.” So please understand my tone of voice when I say financial news and sex appeal seem to suddenly be the equivalent of a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. Wallstrip kicked this trend off in the online sphere, and quickly came into a $4 million payday from CBS. It was more sassy than sexy but definitely used host Lindsay Campbell’s looks to its advantage. The show is even more risque in its current incarnation with new host Julie Alexandria. Still, the series name is just a convenient pun.
Wallstrip had its first blatant ripoff with Stock Rockets, whose standard episode tags include “stock,” “rockets,” “barbie,” “blonde,” “sexy,” “hargrave,” “money,” “finance,” and “market” (its host’s name is Barbie Hargrave). But it seems another sexy finance video show competitor is in the making, by the looks of a Craigslist ad our former editor Paul Kapustka sent over.
Here goes:
Looking for a very attractive, sensual female talent willing to make a slightly-risque presentation of online trading and investment education. Client wants to make talent into one of the most-popular online investing personalities in the world. Taking the concept beyond current investing media superstars Maria Bartaromo or Lindsay Campbell, you will be somewhere between HotForWords and NakedNews. (Nudity not required)
According to the ad, the gig requires someone who is “Very sexy… you exude sensuality”; it’s considered a “bonus” is if you are smart. Grrreat. No company name is given, though ad does describe the end product as online trading how-to’s including scripted segments, video blogs, and possibly Internet radio.

LOL…I remember seeing a few of these videos in the past but never thought they would get bought out. Sex does sell especially if its funny. Your title really says it all. I’m glad their creativity paid off for them.
