A subscription based streaming service is what Apple needs to look at and possibly rentals for devices like the iPod but with wireless devices and braodband becoming ubiquitous i think that downloading of videos to rent or buy is a stop gap measure for the short term .

At least the studios have come around to doing simultaneous day of release for DVDs and downloads and I too will keep my Netflix subscription and continue to rip the DVDs every time I get them .

If the Studios finally let Netflix have day of release movies for streaming I will stop ripping and get a device that can stream to my TV ;)

Rentals, rentals, rentals. Thats what I'm waiting on. And theather releases. $20 for a movie these days, hell i'll pay $20 if the quality is good. I get to watch it a few times in a day in the comfort of my home. $20 well spent, less a black out or disruption in my broadband.
