Bush Addresses the Web for the First Time
How to occupy your time when you have as little to do as President George W. Bush? Your first video interview for an online-only entity. Yeah guys, we’re that low on his priority list.
Bush sat down with Politico’s Mike Allen and Yahoo News for a wide-ranging and not especially hard-hitting interview that included some serious topics (global warming does exist, Bush said; he also offered aid to Burma and insisted that “America doesn’t torture”), some light-hearted ones (he declined to pick an American Idol favorite but said he preferred Saturday Night Live’s impression of his dad over their one of him), and others that were somewhere in between (Bush said he gave up golf in 2003 as a show of solidarity with troops fighting in Iraq).
The video itself is locked into Yahoo’s player — which barely offers a permalink, much less an embeddable version (btw that’s their screengrab above, not ours). It’s funny to think of Bush’s first web interview being a momentous occasion, considering how fast memorable news clips make it online. Still, it might be worth 20 minutes of your time on a Friday afternoon to see the president letting the online populace through his front door.

I think this shows some of his personality. I like the fact that he’s down to earth and has a funny side to him. I don’t see anything wrong with this at all.
