&lt;p&gt;And really film will dissapear soon after DCI becomes wide spread.  As once it does, all the Labs will close as they make most of the money doing feature copies to go to all the cinemas.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Once that is gone, keeping that equipment going just for the shooting of a film for those who still hang on to it, will not make economic sense.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I give Film 5 years at most.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;After that, it will be a artistic thing to do like shooting on those small 16mil cameras.&lt;/p&gt;
