Star Wars Kid: The Mapping of a Meme

Andy Baio over at Waxy.org has an interesting breakdown of the spread of the Star Wars Kid meme from a few years back and his role in it. He lays out not just the early origins of the meme, but also traffic numbers, patterns and referrals he received in the months following, as well as a timeline of the kid’s jump from the web to the mainstream press. At the video’s peak, Baio says he received roughly a million page views and roughly 500,000 video downloads in a single day (io9 thinks the number of people who saw it equaled the total audience for Revenge of the Sith’s opening day).
