CBS Audience Network Adds Yahoo
CBS will put its videos on Yahoo, expanding the reach of network’s content online. Yahoo will become the latest addition to the CBS Audience Network, which includes more than 300 sites such as YouTube, AOL, MSN, Joost, Veoh and others.
The announcement comes just days after CBS announced a new video player that will run across its audience network and support HD streaming, full-screen viewing and full episode embedding.
CBS has always been aggressive in syndicating its content, reaching a reported 90 percent of the web prior to this deal with Yahoo. Though specifics weren’t provided, presumably CBS found the ad revenue split favorable. The network has so far declined to join up with Hulu because of its revenue sharing percentages.
Update: Yahoo called to say that it will be using its own Yahoo player for CBS content, not the new CBS player. Yahoo acquired Maven Networks in January, and will use that technology to power video and advertising.
