Funny or Die Hooking Up With Huffington
Video site Funny or Die is joining forces with The Huffington Post and the Huffington/IAC-backed comedy site 236.com to create a new content destination that will be launched as soon as next week. Sarah Bernard, president of 236.com, confirmed the news today.
The collaboration will feature topical, though not necessarily political, content and will live as a sub-section of one of the partner’s existing sites rather than getting its own URL. “What we do want to do is bring together content that makes sense from all three brands,” said Bernard in a phone interview. Whether or not the endeavor will live beyond the election is to be determined.
There is no name yet for the new project, but Adam McKay, co-founder of Funny or Die, told us they were looking at some kind of hyrbid moniker like “Funington236.”
One piece of content that will most likely get a lot of play on the new destination will be Get Your War On. Bernard told us that 236 has ordered eight additional episodes of the animated series beyond the initial 10-episode order.
