Online video advertising is the next best thing, and I cannot agree with you more.In fact, I have been reading a lot about how online video ads are getting better ROI compared to TV commercial. A few days back one article in The Wall Street Journal http://online.wsj.com/article/SB121803438950516993.html?mod=SmallBusinessMain_feature_articles caught my interest where quite a lot was said about the phenomenon of online video ads and how companies like Jivox are providing free platform to small and medium sized business to come up with video ads. This is very inspiring that start ups and smaller companies can cash on this ongoing boom without having to stretch their budget.

@James - your comment is not clear. TicTacTi is a technological platform that offers publishers and advertisers the ability to monetize video, using their own ad inventory or Ad junction inventory delivered by TicTacTi. This is offered both for standard display ad units and product placement, so actually we don't design the creatives ourselves. TicTacTi is unique (among several things) for being the only solution for product placement in live events and definitely for UGC, VOD etc'. Cheers, Nir, TicTacTi CTO.

Nice to see Interactive Overlays becoming relevant again and I prefer overlays to Mid rolls and pre rolls and I really think they work well with live content .

Only problem I had was their Player crashed Google Chrome a couple of times but that could be a Chrome issue not TicTacTi's.

I have looked at this solution and the main problem is the low-quality. The advertising is not blended well and not synchronized with the video (see the bottom of the billboard). This solution may be relevant for low-end UGC.
Good luck.

I'm an ad person so our agency is always looking for new and better solutions. As Alan points out these are not new...to me this ad format is an evolution rather than a revolution. If you look at their sample video I find the "ads" where the product is inserted at the bottom left annoying and distracting. I think it will hurt advertisers more than help them. As for the product placement...it's OK but at times becomes invisible...we're all so conditioned to the Coke machine that I didn't even notice it at first in the background.

But thanks for the post well worth knowing about.

Um...how is this new? Overlays? Product placement? Hot spots? Seems like 2006 to me and a little late for a new comer. Maybe their name will make people take them seriously...
