Announcing NewTeeVee Live 2008, Nov. 13 in San Francisco
The last few years have brought enormous change to the world of online video. And every day, the number of people who know and care about this business grows. When we started NewTeeVee, this was a niche — now it is clearly a mainstream phenomenon.
That’s not to say the topics we discussed at last year’s inaugural NewTeeVee Live are irrelevant — things like crossover hits, VCs funding content and making money on long-tail video. But some phenomena in particular have had breakout years:
- Hollywood’s increasing openness and enthusiasm for putting its content online, on its own sites, syndication partners’ portals, even onto blogs and fan sites
- Viewers’ significant adoption of these new content offerings
- Rapid development of the tools and platforms for massive content distribution
- The radical transformation of an election by planned and unplanned campaign videos
- The rise of a class of battle-tested independent content creators who’ve built brands and businesses
- The emergence of increasingly flexible ways (though not flexible or easy enough) to bring web content to the living room
- And the introduction of crazy new tools for personal, instant and mobile content production
This year’s NewTeeVee Live, on Nov. 13 in San Francisco, will feature keynotes from Netflix CEO Reed Hastings and Hulu CEO Jason Kilar, as well as the first public appearance by “Fred,” a.k.a 14-year-old Lucas Cruikshank, a.k.a. the biggest thing on YouTube. We are also adding speakers spanning the topics above, in the hopes we can top last year’s conference with a high-impact, single-track one-day event that is educational and informative for everyone involved.
Tickets are available now. We do expect the event to sell out, so please reserve yours today. Hope to see you all in a couple months!
