Hanging Out with Triumph the Insult Comic Dog

It’s 2:30 in the morning. GigaOM business manager Joey Wan and I are decompressing after our NYC edition of NTV Screenings. We join a small crowd of bundled up true fans and passerbys in Central Park to watch magician David Blaine on the second night of his much-hyped attempt to hang upside down for 60 hours. And then…Triumph the Insult Comic Dog from Late Night with Conan O’Brien shows up. And his entourage of puppeteers, props people, boom mikes, joke writers, and release waiver passer-outers. Only in New York!

The Triumph-Blaine bit aired last night and was just posted online. You can check it out above. Joey and I show up a few times and she has a speaking part saying she’d like to see the dog hang upside-down too. My favorite comment of the night: “Harry Houdini called this stunt the dangling douchebag.” The bit runs a bit long, but hey, it’s for oldteevee.

Anyways, this plus the CollegeHumor cameo = pretty fun NYC trip for me!
