Check Into to Corddry’s Hospital Comedy
Hollywood might just be getting the hang of this whole web series thing. If the new trailer for Rob Corddry’s (The Daily Show) star-studded Children’s Hospital is any indication, this new series from TheWB.com could become must-see web TV.
The show is a medical drama spoof that takes place in a (duh) children’s hospital and features a cavalcade of recognizable names, including Lake Bell, Rob Huebel, Ed Helms, David Wain, Megan Mullally, and the voice of Stephen Colbert. The production values look solid and the jokes are actually funny (the Patch Adams-inspired clown makeup is killer, if not a little frightening). From the press release:
In Children’s Hospital, beautiful doctors with tragic flaws struggle with charged emotional and sexual politics in the workplace…which just happens to be a hospital for young kids in life-threatening situations. More often than not, the wildly inappropriate behavior of the oversexed medical staff is witnessed by terminally ill pre-teens.
Corddry created Children’s and is the show’s writer and director. The series comes out of Warner Bros. Studio 2.0 and is set to debut on TheWB.com some time in December.
First, Dr. Horrible was an all-star success that broke the Internet, it looks like Children’s has the makings of being a smash hit on its own, and now there’s word that Lucy Lawless (Xena) is going to starting production in Crackle’s new online action series Angel of Death. If this celebrity thing catches on, what’s going to happen to all those plain ole web stars looking for fame?
