Netflix Streaming to Samsung Blu-Ray Players

Well, we’ve been waiting to see what the fourth and final “mystery” set-top box from Netflix would be, and now we know. You’ll now be able to stream Netflix content through two of Samsung’s Blu-Ray DVD players, and the two companies say they’ll be collaborating to integrate Netflix’s service on a range of home entertainment products (stream CSI to your refrigerator!).

Those with a Netflix subscription can start streaming movies and TV content to their big screens through the Samsung BD-P2550 and BD-P2500 model Blu-Ray players. Both are currently available for $399, and consumers who already own either of them can upgrade to start streaming content by visiting http://www.samsung.com/bluraysupport.

For those keeping score at home, here’s how you can access Netflix on your television:

Netflix is making a full-court press with its online delivery. Recent deals delivered CBS, Disney Channel and Starz content to the service, pushing the total number of titles over 12,000. And Microsoft was supposed to be demoing Netflix on the Xbox at a party this evening, opening those titles up to gamers.

But Netflix needs to adapt. The company isn’t immune from a tanking economy, as it reported earlier this week that year-over-year subscriber growth was down 30 percent so far in October.
