  • Make no mistake again as in 2000 and 2004, is the time for a change not just for America but for those of us who believe that another world is possible.

    Yes, we can!
    Best regards

  • My wife and I watched this event on TV last night and felt even better for having voted for Senators Obama and Biden early….

Vote early if you can, folks. I’m envisioning some real election day snafus at the polls come 11/4….

    Yes WE Can : )

  • I had respect for BB before the so-called infomercial. Obama went from potential leader to biggest float in the parade.

Research yourself. The costs of buying network time like Obama did… 30:00 minutes on network and cable. PLUS the additional cost of “road blocking” in prime time. “Road Blocking” is an orchestrated simulcast across multiple channels at the same time. The only TRUTH IN ADVERTISING is the costs of dominating network and cable prime time.

A modest estimate for the OBAMA INFOMERCIAL would be around $30 million.

This is not a slam – it’s a fact of buying air time – so please don’t respond in anger.

  • Leslie, were you planning on voting for Obama before this, or did you just “respect” him? If it’s just the latter, this seems just a little politically motivated.

Also, most industry analysts have pegged the cost of buying airtime, total, at $5 million or so. Production costs and road blocking would be negligible add-ons.

  • The money spent for this informercial was donated by the people, so I believe he gave us, Obama supporters, what we wanted. He took the time without interruption to explain his policies and show his compassion for “everyday” people. The “real” Joe the Plumbers and Susie homemakers.

  • I loved the infomerical. He has done what was needed to win over the undecided. Now they know how great this man really is!

  • Andrew, Yeah, I realized my tone may have been a little towards the right. I’m still undecided and last evening didn’t influence my decision. I believe the infomercial approach dumbs-down the core of what attracted me in the first place. I saw less platform and more performance. I expected that from Reagan and didn’t want to see it again.

My $30 million estimate would be a total cost for production from concept to broadcast… which would be a fair estimate. That type of $ could have been invested in a better Obama branding campaign.

  • We finally have an opportunity to vote someone into the White House that is integrity. I will vote for him to finally see a president that has not been “purchased” but instead will do things because that is what he promised based on what he thought was right. He is honest, comes from nothing (like I have) and wants to do good. Imagine a candidate that is willing to go out there and put together a 30 minute program so that we can understand who he is, what he stands for and what he plans for our country. I have never seen someone so clear and willing to put himself out there. He is not running for President to prove that his party can win or he is better but because he wants this country to move forward. Like the Senator said, we need someone like him at this point in the history of this country. Have we ever had a president in the last 100 years that has not come from a rich family? Imagine someone who knows what it’s like to work hard and has the guts to fight against the greed and complacency of Washington. I’ve been hoping for this kind of candidate for a long time. We need to clean out Washington. He already started the process. let’s give him the opportunity to continue his work.
