Their creative is completely removed from their marketing. It's all flash and no substance.

You really think that guy was serious when he said the fog machine was the shit? C'mon maybe your just shitting on the site because you do get the humor. Most of the videos and people are funny, but flash sites suck and I've never heard about til now, so they need to step up the marketing

Too hip for it's own good. You can't force cool. It's all about authenticity ala www.vimby.com. The products Honeyshed carries appeals to about 5% of young consumers so they'll always have issues gaining mass eyeballs to the site. Terrible execution.

Honeyshed is produced "bass-ackwards". If there was a general understanding of DRTV, then it would be developed under the general assumption of balance between marketing and merchandising. If there was a greater understanding of the Gen Y market itself, then development would suggest cohesiveness between the content brand and product brand.

Admittedly, some of the pieces are correct; but that's like suggesting that if you or I were given the same ingredients (to prepare a meal) as Emeril Lagassi, that we'd both create the same (or a comparable) dish. Its essentially the difference between cooking and culinary.

Convergence in media usually requires balance, accompanied by a duplicable process--the ability to manage a double bottom line. Until Honeyshed strikes either, they will never attain traction; and although the idea is very novel, content-wise what you've got is a peanut butter and pickle sandwich. It may sound alright (by its parts), but will it taste the same on bread? Obviously not.

Honeyshed: Get a chef in your kitchen.

@Tim Street - you would most certainly be 'the bomb' if you brought a fog machine to a party. Who doesn't love fog machines?

I think Honeyshed is on to something here. No, it's not amazing yet, and while fog machines are awesome, heavy Flash sites are not. But the content is mildly compelling and I can imagine them getting into some kind of 'taste-making' where people actually watch to see what's hip.

Well Chris,

I have to say that I have walked into a party with a fog machine and let me tell you, a good time was had by all. But I was 14 when I did that.

On the flip side I am in no way endorsing Honeyshed at this time. ;)

I do think with the right creative direction Honeyshed has huge potential.
