A GigaOM Family Thanksgiving
We’re like a big family here at the GigaOM network of blogs. We look out for each other. We help one another. And once a year we drink too much sherry and sulk because mom always liked you best.
But until we get there, we have some cooking to do! We asked GigaOM staffers to submit their favorite parts of the Thanksgiving meal. If you’re looking for menu inspiration, watch one of these how-to recipes to see if that gets those cooking juices going.
Craig already did a great turkey roundup so let’s move on to some other fixin’s.
Onion and Cornbread Stuffing Personally, I like stuffing (or dressing), and I also do a wicked good impersonation of Food Network Chef Tyler Florence, so I thought I’d bring those two worlds together.
Giblet Gravy Stacey Higginbotham at GigaOM says “My favorite item is stuffing with giblet gravy. Something about the fats and carbs with just a hint of meat transports me back to childhood. Plus it’s fun to say ‘giblet.’”
Sweet Potato Crescent Rolls Special Projects Editor Celeste LeCompte insisted these appear in the post because “they are sweeter and prettier to look at than your usual roll…It’s like having dessert during the main meal, and what could be bad about that?”
Mashed Potatoes NewTeeVee Station Reviews Editor Liz Miller loves mashed potatoes, yes she do, she’ll always be true. So please won’t you please… watch Paul McCartney instruct you on how to make them. (seriously)
Pumpkin Pie Both NewTeeVee Overlord Liz Gannes and jkOnTheRun Managing Editor Kevin C. Tofel enjoy pumpkin pie (though Tofel prefers his cold), and who could argue, really? Pumpkin pie kicks butt. Classic:How To Make Pumpkin Pie
Pecan Pie Those jk guys have a sweet tooth. James Kendrick, the site’s founder piped in requesting “the southern traditional: pecan pie. Mmm mmm good.” The video recipes I found for straight-up pecan pie didn’t have very good production values, so I went with this chocolate-y variant (Somehow, I don’t think James will mind).

Happy Thanksgiving to you as well…but if you’re going to share and be generous, can you PLEASE stop embedding ANYTHING from Hulu. Its georetarded, and although undoubtedly the majority of your readers are in the United States, I’d take a bet and say 20-30% aren’t.
