Nielsen: 9.5B Video Streams in November
After a dip in October, the number of overall unique online video viewers rose again in November, according to Nielsen’s VideoCensus. The number of unique viewers during the month grew to 124 million from 120 million in October, putting November back on par with September. The total number of streams served increased to 9.5 billion from 8.89 billion in October.

Nielsen likes to warn against comparing month-to-month numbers because of tweaks they make to their methodology, but given how November’s unique viewer numbers were in line with September, it seems odd that October saw a dip, especially given the popularity of the election (and comedy videos surrounding the election).

YouTube gained in both total number of streams and unique viewers from October to November. YouTube served up 5.56 billion streams in November, up from 5 billion, and its number of uniques grew to 84.5 million in November from 82.5 million the month before. Fox and Hulu each saw a mixed bag from month to month. Fox served fewer streams, dropping to 243.8 million in November from 244.2 million in October, but its number of uniques rose to 20 million from 18 million. Hulu, on the other hand, served up more video streams breaking 220 million in November, up from 206 million, but to fewer people, with its unique viewer count dropping to 7.5 million in from 9 million in October.
