Tiger’s Return Generates 2.5 Million Streams

tiger_returnTiger Woods’ return to golf didn’t end in victory (he was ousted today), but it did generate some big numbers for PGATour.com. The site announced today that it served more than 2.5 million streams during the first round of the World Golf Championships – Accenture Match Play Championship yesterday.

The last time Woods played was in June, during a down-to-the-wire playoff against Rocco Mediate at the U.S. Open that generated more than 4 million streams in one day. PGATour.com didn’t livecast Woods’ return, but instead offered hole-by-hole coverage of Woods’ first round shortly after each hole was completed. Hopefully Woods will stay healthy so those online video numbers will stay up.

Turner Sports, which manages the PGATour.com, is on a bit of a roll as it also manages NBA.com, which just served up 14 million streams for the recent All-Star Weekend.
