Funded: GoViral, BriefCam, Extreme Reach
Disruptive video technology startups sometimes have very little to do with each other, but we don’t mind. Viral video seeding, surveillance video synopsizing, and multiplatform commercial distributing are all things in which we’re interested. So, here are details on three recent early-stage funding rounds that were just announced:
Branded video distributor GoViral received €6.5 million ($8.8 million) from Kennet Partners. The Copenhagen-based company said this is its first institutional investment, though it’s been around since 2005.
GoViral seeded the can’t-be-real “Surfing with Dynamite” viral video for Quicksilver (see above) that, according to GoViral, generated some 20 million views overall, appeared on some 95 percent of all surf web sites worldwide within four days of release, and spurred £68 in additional sales revenue for every £1 spent.
Competing video seeding startups include Feed Company and WiredSet in the U.S.
Way over in the surveillance video space, BriefCam announced today $2.6 million in first-round funding for its synopsis software. The Neve Ilan, Israel-based company’s investors include Aviv Venture capital and individuals from the CCTV surveillance industry. The company enables a full day of surveillance cam footage to be condensed into a few-minute summary by recognizing changes in objects and activities. It trims down time spent on painstaking manual review after a crime or other incident.
Meanwhile, cross-platform video advertising distributor Extreme Reach also announced an undisclosed amount of funding led by Greycroft Partners and including previous investors Village Ventures and Long River Ventures. The Needham, Mass.-based company’s software delivers and tracks commercials across TV, web and mobile. Extreme Reach brought on 1,000 TV and cable stations in 30 days in the first quarter, according to its press release.
