Clearleap to Bring Trio of New Media Studios to TVs
The lines between old and newteevee blurred a little more today, as Clearleap announced that it will help make web-based content from blip.tv, Next New Networks and Revision3 accessible on TV sets. Programming from the trio of new media companies will be made available through cable, satellite and IPTV operators in a VOD setting using Clearleap’s ClearFlow platform.
This is the first content partner announcement for Clearleap. The company said it has partnerships with multi-service operators in markets around the country, but didn’t say with whom or where those markets are located. Clearleap’s technology allows it to pull content from its partners through an MRSS feed, and then adapt it to fit the requirements of the MSO partner. Once Clearleap has the video, the company says, it can be delivered to home viewers within minutes.
When asked whether Rev3, NNN and blip were paying customers, Clearleap said it wouldn’t comment on specifics, but that it was providing baseline-level service at no charge to content owners for a limited time and under certain conditions. The agreement with Clearleap also gives the trio the ability to include video and overlay ads with the content. Local service operators will have the option to include advertising as well.
Clearleap has $12.3 million in debt and equity funding from Silicon Valley Bank, Trinity Ventures and Noro-Moseley. Competitors include ActiveVideo Networks and AnySource.
