Viva Vevo! Sony Hooks Up With Universal and YouTube
Sony Music Entertainment announced today it will join Vevo, the music video and content-related site conceived by Universal Music and YouTube. Terms of the agreement were not announced.
With the addition of Sony, two of the four major record labels are now onboard with Vevo, leaving just Warner Music and EMI as the odd men out (though they are reportedly in talks to join, naturally). Sony’s catalog is packed with big names like Britney Spears, Beyonce and Bruce Springsteen, bolstering the star power of the site — which already offers access to the likes of Jay-Z, Black Eyed Peas, and Amy Winehouse, courtesy of Universal.
Vevo is supposed to launch later this year.
